Bush's Swan Song
Published on April 4, 2007 By Bahu Virupaksha In Politics
There is a strong feeling among Republican faithfuls that George W Bush took them on a merry goose chase all over the wilds without even once gracefully accepting the core values and beliefs of the conservative sections of society. The Republicans might even in the Presidency in November 2008 because as things stand there is no White Male candidate in sight and it is therefore unlikely that Hilary Clinton will get the kind of support that a strong white male candidate can get. And if her running mate is Barack Obama the Democrats will sink like abrick in Hudson Bay. It is too early to counbt the Republicans out of the race and therefore we have to take a close look at the predicament of Bush and his team.

The Empire is in retreat. It does not take a Hugo Chavez or Noam Chomsky to realise that the US is stretched to breaking point. The War in Iraq is virtually over, surge or no surge. American defeat in Iraq will certainly hasten calls for a new multi polar world order asnd Vladmir Putin is already taking steps to make this vision intop a reality. Brazil and China are certainly emerging economic power houses and Putin is certainly spot on in wooinmg these countries. Putin is already making strong noises against the eastward expansion of NATO. The decline of US military in Iraq will certainly undermine US interests in Europe an there is no one elser to blame but the policies of Bush.

The military defeat in Iraq is beginning to sink the once powerful dollar. Ever since the Bretton Woods Agreement after orld War II, the US dolloar has been the preferred currency of international trade. The last few weeks have seen the steady fall in the value of the USA $ vis a vis the major currencies of the world. Yuan is fast becoming the preferred foreign exchange in the emerging markets. The decline in the standing of the dollar is also directly the result of the wrong fiscal policies of the Bush regime especilly the neglect of the deficit.

The politcal unravelling of the Bush regime began as we have so often pointed out with the Iraq War. With defeat staring straight in the facr and with the Democrats making it difficult for the President even to articulate a coherent response, the hawks in the Bush camp are getting desparate and started itching for showdown with Iran. However the UIS military took the unprecedented step of threatening mass resignation in the event of a war with Iran. Bush backed down with his credibility in tatters.

The whole of Latin America, USA'[s backyard so to speak, is full of antio American populist politicians who are touching the right chords all over the world. Hugo Chaves famously compared Bush to the Satan a la Khomeni and not a voice was raised in protest. Chavez is using his oil revenue to economically undermine USA and the IMF by lernding money to poorer countries of the region like Bolivia whose president Morales is a keen follower of the rhetoric, if not the methods of Huigo Chavez..

Within the USA, income inequality has increased to such an extent that 3000 ASmerican hold 75% of the total wealth of the USA. Bush's policies have led to anb erosion of thre job market with manufacturing jobs being exported out of the USA and only dead end McDonald type of jobs available for the citoizens. The rising tide of unemployment is the fall out of the vicious program of tax rebates for the rich pursued by Bush and unfortunately thye blue collar US worker did not realise thast Bush had cut the ground from under his feet.

The Col expresses a point of view and I do not see that as a bad thing.

Case in point!

Is his article just a satire of crazy left-wing kooks?
It's such a charactiture of left-wing lunacy that there's nothing in there to really respond to.
