THE RAGING CIVIL WAR
Published on March 19, 2006 By Bahu Virupaksha In Politics
The situation in Iraq is nowhere near normal. Three years after the Bush Admionistration launched its invasion of Iraq the country has been reduced to shambles. Electricity is supplies for only 4 to 6 hoiurs, schools and hospitals are virtually closed down, essential suppl\ies are to be had at an exhorbitant price and a proud and civilised nation reduced to sectarian and civil strife. The US invasion is the sole cause for this unfolding trgedy. The regular readers of our blog would know that this is exactly what we had predicted. The Shiaa Sunni strife is clearly got the US backed regime by surprise and are unprepared for it. The Shiaa dominated government is retaliating by launching death squads into Sunni areas and everyday nearly 70 to 100 people die in the sectarian violence. The US Administration thought that after the elections there will be peace. This was just a false hope encouraged by the alliance now in power. The drift into civil war willncrease the leverage the Iran has in Iraq and USA will have to call in the good offices of Iran to save the day.

The bombing of the Shiaa shrine at Samaraa has resulted in increasing the divide between the two major sectarian groupings in Iraqi society. This level of sectarian strife iwas unknpwn even in the woprst days of Saddam's tyranny. With no exit plan in place, the situatioon in Iraq deteriorating by the day, rising violence and a civil society restive to the point of distraction, the USA will hacve to begin its count down to leave Iraq.

The whole paragraph quoted above is lies.

1. Iraq already was in shambled before the invasion. Since the invasion the Americans have put a lot of money into rebuilding the country. You say the opposite.

2. The electricity supply was already bad under Saddam, probably due to sanctions. You imply that this is a new feature since the invasion.

3. Schools and hospitals are functioning and are open. Hospitals can work again since the sanctions are lifted because Saddam can no longer stop medicine from being delivered to hospitals. You say the opposite.

4. Prices are higher. But so is supply and wages are much higher now than before the invasion. You mention only the first and imply that the other two factors have not changed.

5. Saddam slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Shi'ites. You claim that sectarian strife is a new feature of post-war Iraq.

Do you insist that what you say is true?

Back it up then!

The approval rate of the US President Bush has fallen even below Nixon at the height of Watergaste. Now who is lying. The majority of the US population feel that invasion was an grave error(pardon the unintended pun).

Better re-check your facts.  Nixon's was down to 22%.  No one has insinuated Bush's is that low.

He brought in an irrelevant fact. That it was also wrong doesn't surprise me.

Before the US led invasion of Iraq there was certainly a functioning government in ghe country which maintained law and order. Now there are death squads operating from ministerial buildings and prisons such as Abu Gahraib/ I wonder how any one can defend the Bush piolicy in Iraq. In Serbia the leader was brought to trial for merely trying to protect the integrity of his country. Now Bush and BVlair with uter contempt for law invade another country withiut any provocation and kill nealy 250,000 civilians there. This has been revealed by a study sponsored by a US University. The elecions have not led to the foprmation of a Government in Bagdad and even if o ne if formed it is unlikely that there will be peace. A government of quislings and collaborators will not command respect and violenve will continue. Only whebn the US troops leave will peace return.

"law and order". How succinctly you categorize the decades of torture, murder and genocidal acts of a madman. You have a funny way of condoning some death squads and being outraged over others.

"In Serbia the leader was brought to trial for merely trying to protect the integrity of his country."

You can't, possibly, be talking about Milosevic, the pig responsible for genocide. Your anger is giving way to hatefulness.
