The Bush White House has let it be known to the world at large that though the Iraq Stusy Group had called for negotiations with Syria and Iran, the strategy of the Bush regime is to "surge"troops in Ieaq. What on earth does this mean.
There are two options only. On the one hand it means that there will be more American troops on Iraqi soil and therfore more casualities. Instead of saying that troop strength is to be increased the Bushmen have mangaled the English language and term it "surge". This neologism has the same taste as the other term made infamous by the Bush Administration--extra ordinary rendition. Illegal transportation of people without due process violating all canons of international law was termed extraordinary rendition. Like George Orwell rightly said nearly 50 years age, every totalitarian regime twists and distorts language in order to hide the truth from the very people they ostensibly serve.
Thus we have surge in troop levels. How is this great "surge" going to change the military fortunes on the ground. Not a word. The embedded media, the free press, mouth this innane phrase as if Bush and the Bushmen have come out with an eath shaking new plan.
Surge or no surge the US is stuck in Iraq and the judicial murder of Saddam Hussein will not make things better.
