Like many I too felty that John Kerry will win, but in the best tradition of Democracy, I salute George Bush who has been elected with a plurality of nearly 3.7 million votes. John Kerry showed grace in letting go of the election, though he could have made things difficult in Ohio. To say that George Bush is a highly popular politician would be incorrect, but he has proved many of us wrong in winning a free and substantially fair poll. He will now realise that the real difficuty bebins now.

On the foreigh policy front Bush will have to repair the tattered Atlantic Alliance. Assuage the hurt of the French and Germans and then proceed with a realistic reapprisal of the War in Iraq. I think the horrors of the war have not sunk in and USA must do all it can to minimise the loss of civillian lives.

On the economic front Bush will have to deal with the eroding confidence in the Budget due to the escalating deficit. All marco economic indicators suggest a growing recession in the economy coupled with shrinking jobs. Outsourcing has been raised by
Kerry in the last election.. This will not really hurt the American economy, because only repetitive lowq skill tasks are being outsourced.

In order to avoid the nighmare of contested elections and skullduggery during the election, it is high time to establish an independent Federal Election Commission whichn will not only oversee the conduct of the election but will also be enpowered to
act of referee in case there are allegations of foul play. For instance, the Kerry camp attacked the war record of George Bush
and such allegations or controversies can be handled by the FEC {Federal Election Commission}.

After a hard faught election there must be a coolinf off period. John Kerry acted with grace and dignity ans has secured 49%
of the popular votes. Bush must incorporate some of the issues that Kerry raised in his program/

This is where you go wrong. To say that Bush is not a popular president is false! If he were not polpular he would not have won the *popular* vote nor would it have been by "3.7 million" votes. There already *is* a Federal Election Commission.

The popularity of Bush has been established and as I have said the "people have spoken" and that is the right way yo look at it. However, the real troubling question is why when conventional wisdom holds that when there is a heavy turnout of voters which is generally seen as anti incumbent, did Bush buck the trend. Did the tape of Osam bin Laden aired just before the election "scare" voters into the Bush camp. This is only a speculation and probably an unfair one at that.
