Even before the dust had settled on the Atlanta killing another horrific event took place. In a church a seeingly educated, educated suburban dwelling parishner pulled out an automatic weapon and killed 7 people before shooting himself. This event like the Atlanta Killings suggests that it is time to consider seriously a law against owning guns. The argument trotted out by the spokesmen of the NRA that the right to bear arms is a constitutional right is misplaced, because the Bill of Rights permits the citizens to bear atrms in a National Militia. Private men and women owning weapons is not envisaged by the constitution. Unfortunately, the USA has become the only advanced technological society having the highest per capita weapons to population. The security of the citizens can only be safe guatrded by the state and effective policing is the sine qua non for citizens secutity It is pertinent to point out that a few weeks earlier the husband and mother of a Chicago judge were shot dead in their homes by a former prisoner. ,
