Which Way the Romabn Catholic Church is Headed

The milling crowds around the Vatican says it all; a much revered religious figure is at the end of his earthly ministry. CNN is crying itself hoarse as if the Pope is not keeping his date with the Maker. Probably by the end of this day this great man may have died. The Carinals dressed in their red cassocks will meet in the Lateran Palace to elect a new pope, and in all probalility he will be an Italian. It is ironic that Church visitation is coming down drastically in USA and in Europe and the Roman Catholic religion is growing most rapidly in Black Africa, the only African Cardinal Arnize is not being considered for the Papcy. Are back in the dayd of the Carolingians one the powerful factions at the Court would get to appoint their own to the Papacy.

This Pope has had a long reign at the Vatican. He has reversed the direction given to LIBERATION THEOLOGY by the Second Vatican Council. His opposition to Red Soviet Union was responsible for the shift in public opinion at least in his native Poland against the USSR. However, his handling of the CHOIR BOYS Abuse Scandal in the USA has been very cicumspect. It is rather unfortunate that the Pope did not issue a formal encyclcal relating to the complicity of the Roman Catholic Church in the crimes of the Germans in World War II. The great American Historian David Goldhagen has documented in great detail,in his MORAL REKKONING the dubious role played by the Poe in this book. History is merciless: It questions every action of mortal man and holds up a mirror.
