THE ELECTIONS HAVE NOT BROUGHT PEACE
Published on April 19, 2005 By Bahu Virupaksha In Current Events
Nearly 3 months after the elections in Iraq, the Government is yet to be formed. This fact alone must make supporters of the war in Iraq wonder what is going on there. The Western media, the embedded ones particularly, were eloquent in their parise of the Elections, as though the mere fact of holding the elections will bring peace and stability. In fact the elections have made thibngs much worse fro the Americans and their collaborators. The sectarian divide is increasing day by day. The policy of using the Sh'iia majority as the plack for a pro American government has not happeened. The Sadar supporters are holding out andf have now organized themselves to push forward the insurgency.
The present phase of the insurgency has a two pronged strategy. First, it seeks to undermine the confidence of the Iraqi people in the ability of the regime to provide security. Hence the targetted attacks on the police and army. Second, the policy od creating sectarian divisions favoured by the Americans is not paying dividents. A large section of the Iraqi population remains comitted to an Iraqi identity that is not exclusively sectarian. Therefore, though the Sunnis are taking the initiative in launching the insurgency, they have the tacit support of the Sh'iias as well. In these circumstances it will be futile for the Bush Administration to delay withdrawal from Iraq. In deed with the Ukranian contingent withdrawn from Iraq, the colaition of the willing has shrunk to an "anglo-saxon" force of Americans, English and Australian troops.

It's a good eye-opener (though hawks are blind) when you consider that the US is saying it's a victory for Democracy and all that rubbish. A democratic victory would imply an election with a victor announced once vote counts were completed. But in this unique democratic election, no one seems to know who won. And this is 3 months later. Immediately after the uncredited elections, the guy who came in last was the media-stated man who was maybe going to be Iraq's next leader. Mind boggling how anyone could think this is a victory for Iraqis. Nice slogan. Vote today, no winner tomorrow. It should be laughable but with such tragic consequences it's hard to really chuckle about this. People are dying, and most of them are innocent Iraqis. Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Iraq was no threat. I don't know if Bahu has seen this link, but when Rice and Powell are saying Iraq wasn't a threat in 2001, then one year later are going on about how Iraq was a threat, well, we all know it's a pure lie with no equal.

Astounding how Americans can be fooled by their leaders. And it's their fault because the truth is out there for those who wish to know what's really going on around them. There's no excuse for someone who thinks Iraq had WMD (FoxNews viewers) or thinks Iraq's US-controlled elections were a victory for democracy. Two bit bloggers like myself had better and more reliable information than the New York Times and MSNBC and CNN? It's clear the media went along for the ride since the Rice and Powell clips should have been replayed for viewers prior to the illegal invasion. If Hussein was contradicting himself like that the US would be all over him for his lies and whatnot. But not when it's the US. Then they simply clam up and withold the facts which lead to the obvious conclusions.
As for the attacks on the Iraqi police and military...It's mandatory to flip the situation to understand their reasonings. If China invaded the US each American would/should do their duty to their country and fight to kill the enemy invader. Imagine Dharma working for the Chinese invaders, and she gives the adresses of all the people she knows who hate the Chinese who invaded their country. The Chinese arrest these Americans who are ready to fight for their invaded country. The Chinese take these Americans and send them to Alcatraz, where it's common knowledge to the Americans there is torture going on. You think Dharma deserves a medal for fighting against her own countrymen, or does she deserve something akin to Nanking? Iraqis lining up to join the US led Iraqi army are fair targets. The US is trying to create and Iraqi army which can put down or handle the insurgency. Translation: to fight their own countrymen who are simply fighting against a foreign invaded in the same way Americans would fight the invader on their own soil. Any Iraqi trying to join the US-led military will end up agains their own. I know I'd kill my next door neighbours if they gave me up as someone who hates a foreign invader. Gladly.

You two wouldn't know good news if it knocked you over. Bahu is about as tiresome as it gets, pointlessly hand-wringing no matter what. OK to have an opinion, but talk about predictable. Yikes.

Cheers,

It is only bad news to those of you who live for bad news. The truth is NO GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED OVERNIGHT!!!

Elections were only a step in a long process towards freedom. It sickens me to see people use their own freedom to speak out against freedom for others.
